Home Paralysis
A decision-support tool that gets overwhelmed home buyers from stuck to started.
Summary
Home Paralysis helps people who feel stuck or overwhelmed by home-related decisions take their first step with confidence. The goal was to reduce cognitive load and turn hesitation into action.
Result: A product that replaced overwhelming to-do lists with a single guided next step, directly targeting the exact reason users were abandoning the process in the first place.
Role: UI/UX Designer
Timeline: 4 Weeks
Focus Areas: Research, Interaction Design, Motion, Product Strategy

Users weren't unmotivated, they were overwhelmed. Real user quotes:
"I don't know where to start."
"Everything feels like too much."
"The longer I delay, the harder it gets."
Every day a user stayed stuck was a day closer to churning entirely.

Research & Insights
Decision fatigue is the real blocker → not laziness, not lack of interest
Users start when the first step is extremely clear → ambiguity kills momentum before it starts
Big task lists increase guilt and avoidance → the opposite of what a to-do list is supposed to do
Encouraging microcopy boosts follow-through → tone is a conversion lever, not decoration
Calm visuals reduce anxiety → cluttered UI adds to the exact overwhelm the product is trying to solve

The Solution
Clean action cards → Outcome: removed the visual noise that was triggering avoidance in the first place
One-tap "Just Start" interaction → Outcome: collapsed the hardest part of any task, starting, into a single, frictionless tap
Tasks broken into achievable steps → Outcome: turned "too much" into "doable," which is the entire difference between a user who acts and one who closes the app
Subtle momentum-building motion → Outcome: made progress feel real, which kept users moving instead of stalling again
Encouraging microcopy → Outcome: replaced guilt with reassurance, directly increasing follow-through
